Dorelia Carballo beszant C.
I have worked at Kensington School ,Pozuelo, from January 2007 until June 2022.
Kensington is a British school with native teachers, following the British curriculum, it has recently come under the ownership of the Inspired group, following the Emilia Reggio philosophy in EYFS.
I am a native English speaker and spent 7 years at Kensington as a student. I am a hard- working, responsible and vocational educator. I have been a T.A. in the EYFS , from Pre- nursery, Nursery and Reception and also worked for 6 years in Key stage 1.
I have loved every moment of my time at Kensington knowing that each day will be different, challenging and magical. I am a good team worker and am able to adapt and adjust quickly and competently to different teachers and year groups.
I have gained much experience with mathematics, reading and writing skills. For example introducing phonics with the Jolly Phonics method. In PN and Nursery I have focused on the Personal, social and emotional, communication and physical developmental areas. It has been especially gratifying supporting individual children in their learning journeys.
Thanks to this practical experience, along with continual training opportunities, I have been able to substitute T.A.s, teachers, both Spanish and English and, at times, I have assumed to the role of class tutor fulfilling all the corresponding duties such as preparing materials, planning a wide range of activities for different learning abilities, observing and assessing, sharing feedback with colleagues and communicating and establishing a good relationship with parents.
In addition, with a colleague I created a “Story Club”, an after-school activity for 4 to 6 year olds ,using stories as a starting point for various creative activities such as role play, drama, singing, painting and making models.
Throughout the pandemic and subsequent on-line teaching I have collaborated by creating fun teaching videos for EYFS and also participating in direct on-line teaching from home or even outdoors finding animal tracks in the snow to make our winter topic come to life.
I have also collaborated in the school choir and orchestra and other after school drama and dance clubs.
I have worked in an English summer camp for many years teaching English and assuming the responsibility for organization, supervision and behavioral management from children ranging from ages 3 to 14.
I am always congratulated on my good people skills and I feel this is an important quality to establish good relationships with students, staff and parents. I believe I can be a valuable member of your team. I can contribute enthusiasm, flexibility and experience, I am also willing to continue learning and developing professionally in your school community.
