Experiencia y habilidades

As a highly skilled and qualified English and Modern Foreign Language teacher, I am extremely interested in your new English vacancy. My experience as an English, Spanish and French teacher in several state high schools both in Spain and England means that I possess the necessary knowledge and skills which you are seeking, and I am certain I would make a valuable addition to your institution.
As a qualified teacher, having completed my master’s degree in Compulsory and Post Compulsory Secondary Education and Higher Vocational Training (teacher training) in July 2019, I am ready to put my skills into practice. I began my modern language teaching journey in 2016, shortly after commencing my undergraduate studies. With five years of teaching experience, I am adept at developing a creative and engaging modern languages and English syllabus, helping students advance their understanding of the English and French languages and cultures, thus unlocking their full potential. Moreover, my on-the-job experience has provided me with a well-rounded skill set, teaching me effective classroom management techniques, how to select the most appropriate materials, and importantly, how to keep students motivated and feeling involved.
In addition to my experience and personal qualities, I have a solid linguistically based education. After graduating with honours from high school (specialising in Latin, Greek, English and French), I went on to study Modern Foreign Languages and Literature at the University of Oviedo, my Major being in French and German and my Minor in English Studies. I subsequently deepened my knowledge in linguistics, literature, culture, and translation in these three different languages in addition to Spanish. Whilst in Oviedo I have also participated in some exchange programmes, such as The Tandem Programme in which I delivered Spanish lessons to foreign students while improving my German language level.
In 2016, I completed a year abroad at University College London - undoubtedly one of the most valuable experiences of my life since I was given the opportunity to develop my language knowledge under the direction of a globally renowned teaching body. My learning at UCL extended beyond the classroom as I also actively participated in the Spanish and Latin American Society where I aided others with their learning of Spanish. Whilst in London I additionally attended the Alliance Française, enhancing my expertise in the French language and culture.
As a master’s student, I further broadened my knowledge of the education field by focusing my research on the “flipped learning” method. This approach not only provides a personalised education, emphasising attention to diversity, but also improves the relationships between the students, enhances their participation, promotes responsible and educational use of IT resources, and increases student-teacher interaction.
At present, I have been working full-time for more than four years as an English, French and Spanish teacher in highly challenging high schools in the West Midlands, England. Being able to teach in such a unique environment has provided me with a rich diversity of experiences such as motivating students who have become disenchanted with language learning; combating a pervasive attitude from families and students that views language learning as irrelevant, developing classroom and behaviour management techniques for highly disruptive students, improving restorative conversations and mediations, building strong relationships with all of my students, especially my tutees, maintaining high expectations in the classroom and differentiation for both nurture and high ability students as to identify and fulfil their innate potential is a key motivator for me.
Furthermore, during these past two years, I have been able to work with two well-known education experts such as educational consultant Jason Bangala, who has trained me on classroom management techniques or author Mark Finnis, one of the UK´s leading exponents of restorative practice and more recently I had the privilege to attend a teaching conference led by Doug Lemov on the effects of the importance of the writing practice on student engagement and means of participation.
However, I have also been improving my expertise in the modern foreign languages field by completing several training sessions by Gianfranco Conti, linguist, and owner of the language learning website The Language Gym. Currently, I am working closely with my MFL department to implement his MARS-EARS language learning approach.
Having acquired all these experiences during what I believe have been the most challenging years the Education System has ever experienced; I feel confident that I have much to offer in the role of English teacher as I seek new ways in which to test and develop the impressive skills set, I have developed.
I believe deeply in the value of language learning. Therefore, it would be a fantastic opportunity to be able to utilise my unique skill set to develop further the foreign languages curriculum in such an important institution.
